I got this invitation to the launch party of "Easy To Assemble" just for writing about it:

Sadly, I won't be able to attend... It's in California and I live in Florida. Damn!
This might have been my chance to meet The Blum. Plus, I have college and work. So that cancels everything.

Thanks to T.B. for the invite anyway! Oh, well. Maybe next time.

*Sigh*

Why Do People Think...

I watched the entire Republican Convention tonight. I was impressed by Romney, Giuliani, and of course, Palin. Tuesday night Thompson did pretty well. But...

Why do people think, and automatically assume that just because I'm black, I'm a Obama supporter? I can't stand that! And then when they find out that I'm not, they're shocked!?

I've had people tell me that I was a race-traitor, a Republican-ass-kisser, you name it. I've been called it. Why don't you vote for the black man? You don't support your own race? I'm a Republican, and to tell you the truth if John McCain didn't pick Palin for his VP, I would have voted Independent this year (Bob Barr).

You shouldn't vote for someone just because they're black, or a Democrat or a Republican. You should vote for someone who you think is going to be best to run the country.

Did you know that 70% of black registered voters were Republican until 1964? I don't think a lot of black people even know that.

And then you have a lot of black people thinking: 1. he's black, I'm going to support him. 2. He's making history. 3. He's black and he's going to help us. #3, most of all pisses me off!

HELP YOURSELVES! And yes, I'm black and I'm talking to my own people. I'm pretty sure other races have their issues. If there was a Latino running, it would probably be the same thing.

I'm ranting again, but I had to get a lot of this of my chest.
*Whew!*

The Republican Convention - blah. I mean it was okay. Nothing to exciting. Sarah Palin speaks tonight, so that should be good. BTW, John McCain's 96-year-old mother, looks a whole lot better than Bush's parents. I'm just saying. Barbra and George Bush, Sr. always looked like that. Ever since I was little. Old.

Today I hada little babysitting adventure. My neighbor has an old Roadrunner that he's getting restored. Well he's having issues with it and drove it over to this guy that repairs old cars. Well, the car broke down and I had to go pick him up. Note, I have lived in this area all my life, and I totally couldn't find where to go. I went all over Wakulla County, and finally after 20 minutes, I knew where to find him. I knda knew where he was talking about but I wasn't sure. I'm terrible at directions. You have to use laymen terms with me. If I don't know exactly where some place is, you better break it down to me. I mean literally break it down. Down to a "T".

Let's see what else went on today. Not really anything. I'm pretty much rambling in this blog. If anything new or exciting comes up. I'll be sure to edit and post. There's more going on n my Jeff Goldblum blog than this place.

I want to try and blog atleast once a week. That way, I'll have a lot more to talk about.

School Days and Hurricanes

God it's been a long week...

I've been so busy with homework and updating my Jeff Goldblum blogs, sadly I've neglected "this" blog. But not today. lol.

I started school. I go on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:35 AM to 3:50 PM with an 1:25 minute break in between. So far, it isn't that bad. I got an English class, math class, a web design class, and a sociology class (Marriages & Families). Sometimes, we get out earlier from our classes, which is good. I have to get up at 6:20 AM and I usually get in the parking lot about 7:50 AM. I have to drive 20-25 minutes away + with the heavy traffic coming in and out. I just hate the long walks across campus. I park in the front next to the administration building. So to keep from toting all 4 books, I get the books for my first 2 classes English and Math since they are on the far side. After wards, since it's break time, I go back to my car and get my other 2 books for my afternoon classes, which is closer to where I park. Then I go grab lunch, hang out in the library for a while, and then go to the Computer Technology building and wait about 30 minutes for my class. Then, I head off to my sociology class, and that's the last class and then I'm off home!

My teachers are cool. My English teacher has published 2 books already. On the first day of class, we had to do a communication assignment. We had to interview the person next to us, and then tell the class what we learned about that person. Well, I was talking to the girl and we got on the subject of politics. She said she was a Democrat and I said I was a Republican. No hard feelings. We just kept on chatting.

So when our turn came, I told them about her and her political party. Then she told the class that I was a Republican. You could have heard a pin drop in the classroom. Everyone looked so shocked! One dude yelled out "Go Republicans!" (I didn't need any help, but thanks for vouching for me). What's the big deal if I'm "black" and a "Republican"? Maybe that's it. LOL.

For our math class, if we are early, we can just go in and get to work, and we can do it from home, which is excellent! For homework, I had to do an entire section. 400 problems, only odd! It wasn't that bad, but I spend atleast 2-3 minutes on each problem. I'm terrible at math!

For my web design class, it's totally different. I'm use to learning the old HTML, now, I have to learn the new web standards. It's both 50/50. Some easy, some hard. I had to do 3 web pages for homework.

My sociology class - so far - is okay. No homework assignments yet. The teacher is new, so she's not use to the school and it's procedures. And she's usually late.

I have a lot of older people in my classes too. Not as older in my age 20-25, I mean much older. 30's, 40's, 50's, and early 60's! But I like it that way.

Florida is a very wet state. During Fay, only our lights went out a few times. There was some flooding, and since I'm near the river and the bay, there was a lot of flooding in some areas. No major damages in my area, but in Tallahassee, there were a lot of tress down, closed roads, flooding, sewers broken, hardly no one went to work the following Monday and Tuesday.

Gustav didn't do much. We just had a lot of wind. No rain. I'm just waiting to see what Hannah is going to do... I like tracking hurricanes. I though about going into meteorology, but I found out it involves lots of math. No thanks. I'll stick to journalism. lol.

Wow. That was a long blog. Don't get use to it though. lol.

The Republican Convention is tonight. I watched the Democratic one as well, but I ended up falling asleep. Let's see if I don't fall asleep watching this one...

Bad news first, good news later...

Hi, I'm back to write another blog. I haven't been blogging much because frankly, I have nothing to really blog about. Life's pretty much been the same. Babysitting, running errands, lack of sleeping, aggravation, getting ready for school... Except for the past few days. Okay.

Bad News First
Bad news first. My grandmother was diagnosed that she had cancer. She's 94 years old. Hopefully, they caught it in it's early stages. She has to have more x-rays done before they can preform the surgery on her breast. They say it's minor, but they want to make sure. For the upcoming surgery, they don't want to give her too much anesthesia because of her age. The news has been rough on my mom since my grandfather died of prostate cancer in 1990 (I was 4). And my dad, his father died of cancer and his mother died of ovarian cancer. And not too long ago, his aunt (my great aunt) passed away from the same thing.

It's just been a lot of sickness in the family lately. My cousin was just recently in the hospital for having high blood pressure, and he had to get dialysis for it! He's only 37.

Here's a list of things that run in my family, that someone has gotten, had, or died of:
*Cancer - prostate, ovarian
*High blood pressure
*High cholesterol
*Anxiety / nervousness

... that's all I can think of right now.

Can anyone relate? They'll all be in my prayers. I so need a miracle right now. It's just that sickness and death has been just on the rampage this summer (have you seen the rest of my blog?).

Okay, now that's out of the way.

I haven't even been on a real vacation this summer - at all! I usually go to Daytona Beach atleast for the weekend, but I couldn't even to that. Gas prices, not much money, and trying to get into school... it sucks. And with all of this going on, I need a break before my head explodes!!!!!!!!!!!

GOOD NEWS!
I went with my niece to open house for high school yesterday. She's going to be a freshman (my baby's growing up. Damn, I'm old!) lol. I got to see a few of my teachers (the ones that are left). She has my American History teacher for homeroom (she's having a baby!). I saw my American Government teacher. My World History/Psychology teacher (my favorite!). I saw him coming down the hall while my niece and sister-in-law were talking to my AH teacher. I waved and he was like "Oh, my God!" and we hugged each other (aww!). And he was like, "Come here." So I went into the classroom with him and he showed me all of the postcards I used to get him when I traveled and my 11th grade photo. He still had it! He was shocked when I told him I went, Re-pub-li-can. We talked for like, 5 minutes. lol

My niece got my old math teacher. I saw my British Literature teacher. My speech teacher. And my 7th grade teacher from junior high (she said I was getting older! lol) It was just so much fun. There were teachers there that my sister-in-law had/knew, and she graduated in 1991! My Spanish teacher re-married and she's retiring after this school year.

Luckily, I still can keep in contact with all of them pretty much through the e-mail (yes, e-mail is awesome!). They were all surprised when they saw me. I saw relatives I haven't seen in - years!

I haven't been there in 2 years, and they changed so much. New principal, new teachers, teachers switching positions (my Environmental Science teacher is now an assistant principal), teacher's retiring, and worst of all, change of classrooms! I myself, go lost several times. lol.

I start school this Fall semester on the 26th of this month. Yay...

Well, that's pretty much it. Anything else I can think of, I'll write.
Bye.

Where have I been!? I've been busy. I just haven't felt like writing. I mean, the family reunion went great. We had it for 2 nights. The first night way way better than the second. A few family dramas, but you know how that goes. Lake Talquin was awesome! I hated walking up those hills, but it was very peaceful. It was hot as heck too! We had a cookout on Sunday, with just my family from Daytona.

Hmm... what else happened? (You can tell that I'm not really in the mood for blogging).

My 4th of July weekend went well. We really didn't do anything on that day, except that night we watched fireworks for the neighbors house. That Saturday, we went fishing and I caught 3 big fish! They (my family) hates when i go fishing. I catch all of the fish. lol

I discovered a new artist. His name used to be "50 Shekel". The Jewish 50 Cent. Well, he's Aviad Cohen. He's a Messianic Jew now.
A phenomenal woman

Hey!!! Long time no blogging. Everything has been pretty much the same. Get ready for the Fall semester in college, babysitting, running errands...

I created a new Jeff Goldblum page at MySpace - Ultimate Jeff Goldblum. I feel I'd get more exposure on MySpace than I would on Yahoo! groups. And in the process, in just 30 minutes of creating the page, I got 1 new member and I discovered 2 Jeff Goldblum fansites. It's enough to start my Goldblum Project (if you visit the group, you'll find out about it)...

Hmmm... what else has been going on? My grandmother turned 94! on June 07. I think it's amazing for someone to have lived that long. She lived through the most memorable and historical times in US history. She was born during the start of WWI (1914), she was 4 when it ended (1918). She's been through 13 presidents, WW2, The depression, segregation, went through 3 of the greatest decades of all time - in my opinion -the 60's, 70's, and 80's, seen more inventions and new trends than anyone else I know. For a history buff like me, that's AMAZING!

AND out lived all 5 of her brothers and sisters, AND birth 17 children!!!!!!!!

And here she is, 94 years old doesn't need glasses to read, still can move around, cook, and is still very much a lively.

That's a phenomenal woman! What a milestone!

We have a family reunion coming up on the 21st of June, I'll let you know how it goes + pictures on Flickr! I'm going to do a little shopping next week (that should be fun!), my niece and I. The Mall, Old Navy, Starbucks, and Chick-Fil-A! That place, is truly, heaven sent!

Tootles!

The Funeral & Mixed Emotions...

Today the funeral went well. We got up around 4:30 AM and headed out around 5:15 AM (even though my daddy said we were leaving AT 5:00 AM). We got down there around 9:30 AM. The funeral stared at 11, so we put on out clothes and went down to the church. I didn't plan on going at first, but eveyone else was going so I said, what the heck. My nephew stayed at the house with my uncle.

It wasn't that long, either considering (not trying to be racist to my own race), but black people aren't usually on time. It lasted for about an hour. Not too full either. The choir was terrible, though. My dad got up and sung a song, and it was still better than them! The preacher was good, even though I didn't understand what he was saying half of the time. Then family and friends got up and said a few words. My uncle preached a sermon about the book of Esther (considering that was my aunt's name). In a nutshell, he talked about how important family is (especally if you loose them), and not to forget where you come from, and not to forget about God. It was really good.

I usually don't go to funerals. They creep me out. I didn't want to view the body, but I had no choice because it was open casket until the service started. They creep me out because I start thinking crazy like what if that was my mom, my dad, my sister, brother, grandma, uncle, or anyone that I was close to. A friend. And usually if I end up crying, it's from that instead of actually crying about the dead person. Am I crazy for thinking that?

After the service, we mingled with family and friends and pretty much caught up with each other. My other uncle that was there (I have a ton!) said: "It's pretty sad that it takes a funeral to bring the family together, and we live in the same area." Which, I gave a lot of thought and agreed. It's sad, but it's true...

We didn't go to the burial. It was already 93 degrees (at 12:30!) , we were wearing black, and my feet hurt from the heels that I was wearing! My mom had cooked something for the family, so we took that down to the church. We went back to my aunt's house and said our "hopefully temporary goodbyes", and we left.

Now, I'm sitting here writting and refecting on today's events, and glad to be home with my family.

She had ovarian cancer. It runs in my family. My grandmother died of it. It's a very scary thing now that I realize that it happened to so many people, especally THIS close in the family.

I'm defenantly going for my check ups and GYN appointments!

Hello my blog viewers!

Nothing much has been going on since the last time I blogged. I've been doing a lot of Twittering and Flickring - lol. . I've been working on a webpage for a band that my brother is wanting to promote. He has all of these things that he want, and I have a lot of ideas, BUT - I'm not as web savvy as I want to be. .

My web design teacher didn't teach us much... I'm not blaming her, I just wish she would have tought us things like: how to use Photoshop, Install plug-ins, using tables and frames with graphics, things like that. I remember asking her once about PHP, and she didn't know what the hell I was talking about (which was Internet Programming). How are you going to be a web design teacher, and not keep up with the latest trends or know what things are? .

Luckily, she's not there anymore. . She was a real nice lady and all, I just wish she would have taught us more instead of just giving us the book. I know she was trying to let us learn on our own, but the program mostly did the work. .

BUT I got my 18 credit hours for college anyway, and next semister, I'll be able to use them! .

Good news! My newphew passed the F-CAT! I'm so glad that he did. He got held back in the 3rd grade because of it. I don't think a test should determine if you go to the next grade or not. Or to graduate in my case. I had over 24 (30) of the required credits for high school (because of OJT - on the job training, and Spanish 3-4/Mexico Abroad Program) and I got an average of 2.7. Not bad considering some of the seniors... But I didn't get a diploma because I was 10 points from passing the Math on the F-CAT.

So, to make a long story short, they told me that I could still go to college with a certificate of completion, but I went up there and they told me I couldn't. So I took both the F-CAT and GED and passed all of it except for Math. But eventually, I finally passed both and now I'm in college! So, now I have a HS diploma, GED, and a Certificate of Completion. How uncanny is that!?
.

Hmm... what else? Oh, my job has been going pretty well. I babysit for my next door neighbor. The baby is 8 months. I usually keep her on Tuesdays and Thursdays. And sometimes I keep my cousin's baby on Fridays from 8 AM to 12 PM. It's good money. . So I'm not complaining.

My niece's 14th birthday is tomorrow. I'm not sure what to get her. She has too much stuff already. What do you buy a 14-year-old? You don't want something too "babyish" or too "adult". Oh, I just may give her the classic card with money in it. That never fails! I just hope they make a homemade cake . Yum!

I need to find something new to read! .

The weather here has been kind of nice. It rained a few days ago. Now it's hot and sunny. It's been very hot this spring. Woe is me for the summer... Which, conincodently starts on the same day as our reunion (I have 2 this year!). But that's Florida for you. I should be use to it all now, don't you think. After all, I was born, raised, and still live here...

Well, that's all folks! I'll see you when I see you!

P.S. - Congradulations to Flavor Flav and Thing 2!!! LOL!

I'm back! Wow. Can you believe that!? Usually my blog posts are months and months apart, but it's only been 2 days. Alot has happened. My trip to Daytona Beach went fine on Saturday. While my dad and my uncle attended 2 funerals, I went with my cousin and my aunt.

She (my cousin) went to check on a car that she was trying to buy. She said previously one of the car dealers were trying to give her the run around about the car she was trying to get . So on Saturday, one of the other car dealers just flat out told her that she may not get the car because of the bank loans, equity, the value of the car, trading it in, etc...

She was trying to get a new car because she was spending more money fixing her 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, than paying payments. And she didn't want to have to pay payments, AND fix it all at the same time, especally if you're spending more money fixing it! So, they told her to wait until Monday to see what they can do. She could trade something else in with a title - another car, go-cart, moped... as long as it had a title. Later, they called her back, and I don't know what went on there... so cross your fingers and pray!

While we were there, the car dealer that helped us told us a story about his grandparents and great-grandparents. It all started when we were talking about his little boy and how much he was growing. My aunt asked: "Are you German?" (reffering to his height). He gave us a strange look at first and then he started telling us the story about this grandparents and how they survived the Holocaust. It was a touching story.

After we left the car dealership, we did a little shopping at Walgreens and Albertsons. I broght my mom a card and flowers. My aunt brought my mom some flowers also, because she sent her some fish that was I'm assuming out of season in Daytona (who knows?). I also brought a package of cookies. I love Alberton's cookies! Soft, chewy, and always fresh. Kudos to Albertson's in Palm Coast!!!

Speaking of Mother's Day, it went fine. My mom got a few gifts and phone calls. Me and my sister cooked her dinner. My brother didn't come over because he and his family had just got back from Atlanta that morning. I have photos my flickr. My friend Jeff came over and we hung out for a while.

I got a job! Remember the neighbor that wouldn't talk to me? Well,I went over there and talked to him. I guess he didn't know how to approach me. I start Tuesday. Mostly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. My cousin may want me to start babysitting for her baby as well when her mom has to work for a few hours. Business opprotunity?

If I feel like it later, I'll blog some more. It's good to be back!

Wow. It's been a long, long time. I know, I know that I've been keeping the promise of updaing my Live Journal, but things aren't really that interesting... The summer's coming up and I have a lot of things planned, so there may be more updates (I hope. I can't make any promises). I'm out of school for the summer. I want to look for a job, but I don't know yet. I've been living off of financial aid, except during the school term, where I have a part-time job. Right now, I'm unsure... I want to get a babysitting job. The neighbor next door wants me to babysit, but he hasn't asked me yet, even though I see him outside alot...

Aside from updating here, I've been updating a lot on Flickr, MySpace, Twitter (which you can view on my Mysapce page), and my groups of course. I've been also kind of aggravated. It seems like I can't get a break from nothing! It sucks!!! It's like when "they" want something done, I've avaliable, even if I am tired, but when I want to do something or for someone to do something for me, "they" don't have the time. "I'm tired. I don't have gas. I don't have money"... - WHATEVER! I have been sleeping better, which is great!

I did a little shopping () this week. I brought a new Tinkerbell bag and wallet from Wal-Mart. It's so cute. I took a photo of them on my Flickr. So go there and check it out!

I'm going to Daytona Beach tomorrow!!!

Well, I'm going. Hopefully, I'll be back....

November 3rd was a lucky night. My dad just randomly gave me $100.00.

November 4th
I was going to church this morning, but I ended up changing my mind. I pray daily and read the Bible all the time. I don't have to praise God only in church all of the

time. I'm not one of those "Sunday Christians" that celebrate God only on Sundays...

I went to my cousins house with my uncle this morning before going into Tallahassee. I held the baby for an hour. It made me want to have children... NOT! She was so

adorable, though...

I went to Borders. I picked up the Hebrew phrasebook and I also decided to buy the "St. Elsewhere" (1980's TV hospital drama - staring Howie Mandel - !, Denzel

Washington...) DVD set (I decided this last night). I was going to get it from Best Buy, but Border's had it. I used my nifty Border's discount card and I saved $5.00!

Amen!

My aunt ended up going with me because my sister was suppose to go and she changed her mind at the last minute (). We ended up shopping at Border's,

going to the mall - where we met the Israeli "Seacret Spa" sellers - they were at this mall - on the other side of town from where I was last Friday with my sister-in-

law (small world ). My aunt brought the product for $25.00 instead of $50.00 - just because one of the girls remembered me from last time. I rock!

I brought cookies from "The

Great American Cookie, Co." You know, 5 cookies for $5.95. All chocolate chip. I swear, they have the best chocolate chip cookies on the planet!

For lunch, we went to Hong Kong II Chinese restaurant. We ended up getting carry out. I got my usual shrimp fried rice with chicken wings and 2 eggrolls. I also brought

my parents lunch. My mom was staying with my grandma and my dad was still at work - so mom didn't have to cook Sunday dinner. Although, I could have settled

with the Chinese food and fried chicken, collard greens, yams, and peach cobbler - or anything to do with a traditonal Southern Sunday meal. Maybe next Sunday...

That's all for today... Tomorrow, it's going to be cooooooooolllllllllllllllldddddddddddddd!!!!!!

Whooooooo!
It's been a whole week since I blogged. I've been in a "I don't feel like blogging, I'll do it later..." mood. Later turns into 2 hours, 3 days, and a week. I got a LOT to blog about. I had planned on blogging on the 28th of October, but... you know how that goes.

The day before, on October 27, we welcomed Trinity into our family. My cousin Sheneka had her baby. 7 lbs and 1 oz. early that morning (and yes, she's adorable. Cute as a button!) Welcome Trinity!

Halloween went fine. I took my nephew (he was dressed as Spiderman - for the 3rd time in a row!) around my family (my grandma, aunts, uncles, cousins - where I finally saw baby Trinity) and then we went into one of the little subdivisions up the street and went trick-or-treating.

Yes, I'm 21 and still go trick-or-treating. Free candy. So what! I don't look 21 anyway. They probably thought I was 14. But I not only go out for the candy. I like to see the decorations and see who people are dressing up as.

Afterwards, we came back home.

It started off as a good night, but my father and my sister's boyfriend got into a little altercation. To make a long, and complicated story short, he was drunk and he said something he had no business saying to my father and they started to fight.

I had to pull my father away because he (my sister's bf) had a bottle in his hand, and he was threatening my dad. My dad pulled out a small pocket knife (in defense), and it could have turned into something worse. While pulling my dad back, he accidently hit me in the jaw. It was sore, but nothing serious.

I don't know how my sister puts up with him. He's fine and okay until he starts drinking. She says she's going to do this and do that - in that moment of fustration - and the next day - life goes on like nothing happened... Love is a strange thing. I couldn't be in her shoes... But I love her anyway.

Let's speed up...

Friday (11/02/06) I went to the mall with my sister-in-law and 2 nieces. We had a blast. We went to Barnes & Nobel (besides Borders & Books-A-Million, this is one of my favorite places). I brought "Lonely Planet: Israel & The Palestinian Territories" guidebook - not a good of a guidebook as I hoped it would be. The Frommer's book was better. I was looking for the "LP: Hebrew Pharsebook", but they didn't have it... They have it at Border's. The last time I went there I didn't have enough money to buy the book, so I didn't get it. We also went to 2 shoes stores, the pet store, and ate at Chick-Fil-A.

While walking through the mall, we were stopped by this sales lady selling "Seacret Spa" products from the Deas Sea. I tell you, the stuff she put on my fingernails worked wonders.

All she did was used a buffer, and my nails are still shiny. I'd seen this stuff being broadcasted on TV, but I never really paid any attention to it until then. She was a nice Israeli girl - it was exciting for me because it was the first Israeli I ever encountered - I even said a few words to her in Hebrew. Neat-o!

Like in many other countries, barganining is a key thing to shopping, and boy did we get a discount! The package (with lotion, the buffer, nail file, and cuticle oil) was $50.00! The buffer alone was $25.00. We got the set for $50.00, plus another set for FREE! Plus extra buffing stripts! AND if we kept the recipt, for Christmas, we could get discounts!!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

That was the highlight of my day.

God is good all the time!

Tomorrow, I will probably go to Border's and buy the phrasebook.

Shameless Plugging... - BTW, if you (reading this) are huge travel buffs, like I am... this website CheapTickets.com has the best deals on airline tickets. You can book hotels and rental cards as well, but I would go for the tickets. I used it to check on airline tickets from Tallahassee to Atlanta to Tel Aviv. For 20 days, it was only $1,025.00 total. Not bad... If bargained, budgeted, and planned right, you could probally could go all over Israel for $6,000 for an entire month. B&B, guesthouses, and hosting families offer discounts for longer stays.

It's getting cold out there! 49 degrees already.... And 39 Tuesday morning! I have to bundle up.

Can't say when I'll be blogging again...

Peace out!
